3.4.2 Installing fire extinguishers

The boat has three dedicated places for the fire extinguishers.

  • One in the mid cabin, on the outside wall of the toilet

  • One in the helm station, under the driver’s seat

  • One behind the driver’s seat, inside the seat box

These places are marked with fire extinguisher symbols. For the locations of the symbols see section Safety labels.

All measurements are in millimeters.

To install the fire extinguishers, you need the following materials.

  • Suitable fire extinguisher bracket (3)

  • Wood screws

  • Blind rivets

  • Marine grade silicone sealant

Installing the mid cabin fire extinguisher

  1. Locate the toilet wall on the right side of the cabin.

  2. Drill pilot holes for the bracket screws to avoid cracking the wall surface.

  3. Attach the bracket to the wall by using wood screws.

  4. Attach the extinguisher to the bracket and ensure it stays firmly in place and easily accessible.

Installing the driver’s seat fire extinguisher

The driver’s seat pedestal has a 10 mm plywood reinforcement where the extinguisher is installed. The plywood is laminated in the glass fibre and hidden from view.

  1. Center the extinguisher in the recess of the pedestal where the plywood is located.

  2. Drill pilot holes for the bracket screws to avoid cracking the wall surface.

  3. Attach the bracket to the plywood by using wood screws.

  4. Attach the extinguisher to the bracket and ensure it stays firmly in place and easily accessible.

Risk of material damage.

Pressing the drill too hard against the seat box bottom can damage the mid cabin ceiling.

Do not allow the drill bit to penetrate the mid cabin ceiling when drilling holes. Avoid using an excessively long drill bit.

  1. Position the extinguisher at the bottom of the seat box.

  2. Drill holes for the extinguisher bracket.

  3. Attach the bracket to the bottom using blind rivets.

Before fixing the rivets, seal the holes with silicone sealant.

  4. Attach the extinguisher to the bracket and make sure it stays firmly in place and easily accessible.
